A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, expectations vs. reality. This is a spoiler-free review, so no worries if you haven’t read the book yet. When I read the title, I expected the story to be about a good girl, obviously, who was going to a library where she accidentally found a book called “Guide to the Perfect Murder”. So, she checked it out of curiosity, but somehow got stuck in her head. Eventually she ended up following the guide and killing her bully. So, the story would be about her trying to outsmart the cops. Would she get away with it? I had to read to find out. I started the book and it was not what I expected, instead it’s the story of Pippa, the good girl, who for her high school senior project decided to reinvestigate a five-year-old case. Totally normal subject, we all have done similar topics at some point in high school, right? Five years ago, a high school girl, Andie, was killed by her boyfriend Sal who committed suicide a few days later. Case closed. Pippa wasn’t convinced that Sal was the killer, and so she decided to investigate it herself. But if Sal was innocent, then who did it? I enjoyed reading the book. It’s addictive, I couldn’t stop reading. And the ending was very clever and unexpected. So, if you are a YA fan and love detective crime book, you should definitely read this book. Highly recommended.
